At Rector Elementary we believe that all students can learn given a safe, orderly, clean, pleasant, and attractive environment that addresses the similarities and differences in the student population . Time and methodology reguarding instruction will vary to meet individual needs. The environment will be designed to enhance student self-esteem through a student centered, multiculural, and integrated curriculum that promotes the application of the knowledge attained, and is conductive to learning. Because our school values parent and community
involvement, we will maintain open lines of communication. This will promote a collaborative problem solving environment that focuses on the needs of the students.

This year our school has started a new Accelerated Reading program. Mrs. Dowdy has worked very hard getting this new program ready for students. Students will read books and have to take a test over them and pass with a certain score before points are awarded. There are many nice rewards for reading. There are tee-shirts, book bags, stickers, key chains, and stuffed animals.
